The Fleet
Wanderlust (Jboats, 22ft)Wanderlust is Out on the Water Sailing’s main teaching boat located in New York Harbor. She is our primary vessel utilized for beginner and intermediate students. Wanderlust is also used for small keel-boat performance lessons, lessons on spinnaker and racing technique, as well as for day sailing charters.
The J22 is a boat that can truly match all sailors’ ability from beginner to expert. Built in Rhode Island by Tillotson Pearson since 1983, J22s are used primarily today by day-sailors, racers, clubs and sailing schools in over 18 countries. All types of world class sailing champions and even Olympic champions have trained on J22s. Yet, it is a basic and easy to use boat known for its modest sail area and forgiving handling. We chose the J22 for its ease of use, extraordinary stability, multiple safety features and its truly comfortable cockpit.

Beyond her full compliment of safety equipment, Wanderlust is fitted with a cooler for drinks and eats, a radio with Ipod jack and stowage compartment for your gear.
Pearl (Chantiers Beneteau First 42)
Pearl (pictured at the top of this page) is a 42' Performance Cruising sloop used by Out on the Water Sailing primarily for extended cruising classes, crewed sailing charters and adventure destination sails. Built in 1984 by the Chantiers Beneteau Yard in France (and written about in the preeminent sailing book “The World’s Best Sailboats”), the French built Beneteau “First” series from this era are known to travel across oceans quickly, comfortably and safely. The boats are still competitive in racing circuits around the world and have circumnavigated the globe as recently as the past few years.

Pearl is laid out with the private double staterooms fore and aft and a center salon that sleeps up to four in single berths. Her features include a galley that has twin sinks, a three-burner stove, refrigeration and a freezer. There is hot and cold water in the head, galley and shower. Pearl’s vast sail inventory includes a brand new mainsail, jib and spinnaker.
